Arlington National Cemetery Tour

DESCRIPTION

Honour. Remember. Explore. The Arlington National Cemetery is one of the most recognised cemeteries in the United States and is the final resting place for many American heroes. Take a hop on – hop off bus tour around the vast grounds rich in history.

The tour takes you through the picturesque cemetery grounds to the main monuments and memorials that tell the personal stories of individuals who have made a mark in the course of American history. With the help of the interpretative guide, you’ll learn about the war victims and characters that made a difference in the world of exploration, medicine, science and sports among many. Gain an insight into American history through the personalities that are buried here, for example, the first explorer to plant the American flag at the North Pole, Matthew Henson, and about boxing Heavyweight Champion, Joe Louis. See the gravesite of John F. Kennedy, one of two U.S. Presidents who are buried in the cemetery, and visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the striking and solemn Ampitheater. Every Easter, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, services are held here to honour and respect American defenders. Other time honoured ceremonies continue to take place here, such as the Changing of the Guard which happens every hour on the hour, and as you walk or drive around the cemetery, you’ll have time to reflect and contemplate.
