This Roadtrip travels from Key West, the furthest place south in the United states to across the border to our final destination Montreal Canada. This road trip route is what snowbirds usually do to escape the harsh North winters starting in October. But usually they are traveling in the opposite direction. We have done this trip at least 8 times and mastered the route. We turned this more than 30 hours drive into a fun and comfortable vacation. Instead of driving this route straight, like my 20 year old self did, My wife and I broke up the trip in segments. By doing this it allowed us to enjoy the road trip and we got to explore the cities we love on the East Coast of the united states. An important rule of thumb is the 1-3 rule, drive one day, no more than 8 hours and stay in a city we love for minimum 3 days 2 nights. We aren't perfect and only have 2 arms or paws, so we don't get to see everything in most cities, especially with new things popping up all the time. Ps I would suggest a couple of work out sessions before you go because you will need two stomachs in most cities with all the amazing places to eat. We go on bike rides with the goal of not feeling guilty when we devour fried chicken and biscuits on our travels. Why do the tastiest things need to be fried? This road trip is for the Thrifty foodies and city walkers Driving time: 31-36 hours add a couple hours by stopping in Atlanta Trip duration: 18 days if your in a hurry 30 days if you wanna take your time. Best time to go: The North gets cold so if you are an adventure seeker and the outdoorsy type try the Summer. But the Winter is full of festivals like Igloo fest in Montreal.
