Its construction dates back to 1045, when King Edward the Confessor ordered it to be built.
What we see today dates from 1245 to 1517, when the original Romanesque style was replaced by Gothic after the rebuilding ordered by Henry III.
We will begin our visit at our meeting point, the entrance to Westminster Abbey, at 09:15. Our guide will take us around the nooks and crannies of this famous building, a traditional site for the of the English monarchs and later the British monarchs.
Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all English monarchs have been crowned at the Abbey, with the exception of Joan I and Edward V.
We will see the numerous tombs of various members of the royal family, aristocrats and illustrious personalities such as scientists and poets, including the tombs of Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer and Rudyard Kipling.
In recent years the Abbey has hosted the funeral of Princess Diana and Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding.
