Make your trip to Rome complete by doing a visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
Arrive at the meeting point in front of the Vatican Museums and meet the assistant who will lead you at the entrance. Please note that the ticket entrance isn’t individual so you will access the Museums at the time indicated on your voucher together with other people. After entering you will start your visit at your own pace.
Take in the highlights of the Vatican Museums, from the Sistine Chapel to lesser-known gems of the collection. Visit the Hall of Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Candelabra and the incredible Raphael Rooms.
A definite highlight of your visit is the Sistine Chapel. Take some time to admire the details you have heard about, including Michelangelo’s boneless self-portrait, in which he expresses to the world that he would rather be skinned alive than paint the Sistine Chapel again! As incredible as his work is, you’ll appreciate it even more up close and after you’ve seen what it takes to create a fresco.
If you choose the Vatican Museums and the St. Angel Castle option, after visiting the Vatican Museums, you can reach the entrance of the castle easily. The amazing St. Angel Castle visit includes an audio guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian! The Castel Sant'Angelo is split into seven floors which can be reached by a spiral ramp that first reaches the chamber of ashes and subsequently, the cells in which several historical figures were incarcerated. Advancing toward the upper part of the castle you will find different rooms that functioned as a Papal residence, decorated with perfectly preserved frescoes from the Renaissance period, besides the extensive collection of weapons.
If you choose the Vatican Museum option, your ticket also includes a visit to Patrizi Montoro Palace, which you will be able to visit any day except Wednesdays. This historic residence, a hidden gem in Rome's heart, has been the home of one of the ancient families of the Roman nobility since 1642. Imagine standing in the heart of Rome, Piazza San Luigi dei Francesi, captivated by its Baroque namesake church adorned with Caravaggio's masterpieces. A few steps away, the majestic Sant'Agostino basilica boasts works by Caravaggio and Raphael, but nestled right next door lies a secret waiting to be unveiled: Patrizi Montoro Palace. The Palace is a new opening of 2024!
