You can't visit Turkey without experiencing one of its oldest customs - a visit to an authentic Turkish bath, otherwise known as a Hamam. Since ancient times, the Hamam has offered locals the opportunity to relax, exfoliate, freshen up and catch up on gossip all at the same time.

It all starts when you are taken to one of the best local Hamams. Here, in a cubicle, you change into your swimwear and wrap yourself in a towel. Then it's off to the hamam itself - a damp, steam-filled, marble-tiled room with a 'gobektasi', or heated stone slab, in the centre.

Sit back and indulge yourself in relaxation as the heat softens your skin before enjoying a rejuvenating and exfoliating full-body scrub on the raised marble stone (gobek tasi' ) in the centre of the room followed by a head-to-toe massage in soft, soapy bubbles.

Once you've rinsed off, it's time for a full body massage with oils that will not only leave your skin silky smooth and glowing, but your body feeling refreshed and thoroughly pampered!

Although a fabulous experience at any time, it is best enjoyed at the start of your holiday to completely cleanse and exfoliate your body, giving you a perfect canvas ready for that golden glow!
