YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport's new style

This article is part of the Montreal News section of the Best day ever daily news.

YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport just reached a whole new height for airport style. Whether you're landing in Montréal or flying home, expect to be met by an airport atmosphere that puts your comfort and safety first – and adds a made-in-Montréal flourish to your day.

The renewed YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport is directly inspired by Montréal's “je ne sais quoi,” a state of mind that is friendly, professional and welcoming while simultaneously exuding the city's cosmopolitan, passionate and artistic way of life. It's a kind of “MONTRÉALitude” that most people might simply call “cool.” Yes, we're talking about a genuinely cool airport!

Montréal moments at YUL

In that spirit, the airport has enhanced its atmosphere and personalized its customer service to help people get to and from their destinations smoothly. For instance, you'll find YUL ambassadors, new computer information points around the terminal and a refurbished Air Canada check-in space. Beyond the practicalities, YUL creates Montréal moments to remember, from cheerful reunions at the baggage claim to goodbyes at departures.

Information at your fingertips

If you've got a question about your boarding gate, where to find duty-free shopping or the closest place to get a coffee, use the new red YUL INFO kiosks to find the answer. No matter where your journey might take you, these self-service, easy-to-use tablets are all about answering your FAQs in Canada's two official languages.

Eat local – at the airport!

Fuel up before your flight at airport restaurants that travel off the beaten path and offer a taste of Montréal too. From poke bowls and fresh pasta to burgers and poutine, discover over 45 restaurants as well as special menus with YUL Foodies. Keep your eye out for bright red YUL bikes on occasion too, offering free food samples along with promotional discount offers from the airports' restaurants.

Enhanced airport ambience

Montréal is an artistic and creative city, so why would the airport be anything less? See YUL art that highlights unique aspects of Montréal, including several newly restored works by major artists and designer Axel Morgenthaler's lighting and video installation You Are Almost There, a programmable exhibition that changes with the seasons, in the new transborder and international jetties. In the domestic terminal, 62 creators from Québec reinterpret iconic Montréal symbols in exhibition Le Montréaler, a tribute to The New Yorker magazine. Themed photo exhibitions brighten the departures level and the international arrivals hall.

Connect better at YUL

The height of summer in Montréal makes for a busy airport, but YUL's enhancements help ease your airport experience. That said, YUL suggests that you always check your flight schedule early and plan to arrive three hours in advance if you are travelling to an international or transborder destination and two hours ahead of time for domestic flights. Once you’re checked in, check out the animated “wheel of fortune” in the terminal, a creative display that also features vacation-themed prizes. And if you’re waiting for a U.S.-bound flight, stay entertained with new YUL game consoles.
