Our work ethic
- Here at SEK we use compassionate and positive reinforcement to take care of our elephants and you will see today our tour is very much guided by our herd.
- We have created a beautiful 400m long Skywalk, the first of its kind in Samui, where people can observe our elephants in the most naturalistic way possible and watch them free range forage for food.
- We value the intrinsic role of our mahouts and provide on-site housing for them and their families.

Our Amazing Mahouts
The role of a Mahout has been around for thousands of years. Traditionally the role of mahout was passed from father to son. Many of our mahouts come from traditional families where previous generations have cared for elephants in trekking camps. Some have been mahouts for over 10 years starting as teenagers.

Without the care given to the elephants by our amazing mahouts we would not be able to function. They have also been on a transformational journey with us and know that by using positive reinforcement, being kind and caring to our herd is the very best way to ensure happy elephants.

We consider our elephants and our mahouts as family members. We are all in this together. Caring for elephants is almost a spiritual practice and each month our head mahout performs a beautiful ceremony known as Pakam chang to honor our herd and their ancestors.

Our Mission
● Samui Elephant Kingdom seeks to promote and assist the rehabilitation of captive elephants and to meet their individual needs so that they can live to their full potential.

Our Aims
● Samui Elephant Kingdom seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of our captive elephants and offer specialized veterinary care to elephants in the province of Surat Thani.
● To help rehabilitate traumatized, sick, abused, isolated and psychologically damaged elephants.
● To ensure that human interaction encourages a naturalistic life for elephants, so they can free range forage and express the natural physical, social and cognitive behaviour to the fullest extent possible.
● To provide training and employment for our mahouts.
● To work with the local community to further the understanding of the needs of captive elephants and ensure good practice in elephant care and conservation.
● To share the understanding of the historical context and culture and the valuable role of the mahouts in elephant care

PROGRAM SAMUI ELEPHANT KINGDOM
- Pick up from hotel
- Arrive at Samui Elephant Kingdom, welcome and introduce about SEK project
- Cook the supplementary foods for elephants in Power Ball Kitchen
- Provide a fruit basket of love to feed the gentle giants on the 400-meter-long skywalk, observe beautiful gentle giants expressing their natural habits and lives with freedom from above view
- Meet and walk with elephants in the kingdom to observe their healthy bath behavior and a protective mud spa
- Enjoy premium Thai & International foods and seasonal fruits
- Meet our beautiful gentle giants’ friends before saying goodbye
- Leave Samui Elephant Kingdom and transfer back
