After being a hermit all winter us Montrealers love a good park hang. The city of Montreal does park chilling the right way. The following is a breakdown of the best parks in Montreal.
I hope you take advantage of the beautiful weather this summer in one of these Montreal parks.

Made up of three summits, Westmount, Tiohtia:ke Otsira’kehne and de la croix have something for everyone. Looking for a quiet place in nature for a BBQ, head to Beaver lake. Interesting in some fun people watching, head over to the northern side, especially on a Sunday when the Tam-Tam’s occur, a weekly drum circle that takes place at the base of the mountain.

This park owes its breezy reputation to its numerous old trees that provide a much-needed respite from the Montréal summer sun. With plenty of delicious restaurants nearby, pick up some lunch and enjoy a beautiful picnic in the park!

This island of a park is definitely one of, if not the, largest park in the city. Located just south of downtown Montréal on Ile St Helene this is a great place for a biking or day-long excursion.

Lafontaine Park is the perfect city refuge. With its many trees and seating options, picnics and gatherings are very popular at this oasis

This is the only paid park on the list, but I can be a great way to spend an entire day or half day. The grounds are expansive and there are many beautiful sites to see year round.
Amenities: restrooms, water fountain, parking $, picnic area, vending machine, bike and running track, golf course. (Winter: skating and cross country skiing trails)
This large park is known for hosting large events (fete national/st Jean Baptist) and for its sheep that naturally “mow” the lawn. It is also the only golf course in the city.

The historic Lachine Canal, once primarily a shipping route to China, now it is a Montréal landmark connecting the city to nature over a 13 km urban route. Along it’s water banks is an urban park with a variety of activities throughout the year.
Amenities: restrooms, water fountains, soccer field, football field, children and toddler parks, children waddling pool, tennis courts, ping pong tables and chess tables.
Thoughtfully planned landscaping design makes this park an incredibly relaxing and beautiful escape from the city. Don’t forget to check out the Westmount public library while you are there.

Located at the base of the Clock tower, this beach offers seating and a view of the St Lawrence river, ile st Helene, and the Jacques-Cartier bridge.

Montréal’s largest park, spanning 330 hectares, includes many trails and a sandy beach.
