Jakarta, built in 1527, is now a metropolitan city, but the historical part of Jakarta is still well maintained. On this excursion, we will explore the Antique market at Surabaya Street where antiquities from China, Portugal and also from the Netherlands are displayed.
We also will visit the National Museum offers historical, prehistoric, archaeological and ethnographic aspects of Indonesia through an extensive collection of artefacts and relics, being a good introduction to the life of Indonesia's various ethnic groups.
Then we will walk to the oldest Chinatown area in Indonesia, Glodok, originally just outside the city walls. This area is characterized by winding lanes, slanting red tiled roofs, small dark shops and a hub of the Chinese community until we reach the Golden Wisdom Taoist temple called Jin De Yuan dating back to the 1650s. Also, visit the St. Maria Fatima Church which sits side by side with the Chinese Temple.
