Golden Basilica Guided Tour and Grand Canal Gondola Ride
This is an amazing combination tour to discover stunning Venice. In the morning, enjoy a guided visit to the Golden Basilica of St Mark. In the afternoon, relax with this charming gondola ride along the Grand Canal and the smaller romantic Venetian waterways!
Begin your experience with a one-hour guided tour of the Golden Basilica of St Mark, one of the most majestic cathedrals in the world. Accompanied by a local guide prepared by the Curia of Venice, you will have the opportunity to fully appreciate this masterpiece of Byzantine art, which is unique in Italy. Admire the beautiful gold mosaics and marble floors while our guide explains the biblical scenes, history, and particularities of this ancient basilica. The tour begins on the ground floor where visitors can see the gold mosaics. The basilica boasts an impressive 43,000 square meters of mosaics. The tour then proceeds to the first floor for a second visit.
The guided tour of the Basilica includes a visit to the Terrace, featuring copies of the famous horses, and the Museum of St Mark. The museum houses a variety of objects belonging to the Basilica, including the Quadriga of St Mark. The Basilica is open for entry on Sundays, but the Terrace is closed during ongoing masses.
During the break between the morning and afternoon tours, you will have some free time. After completing the morning guided tour of the basilica, you can have lunch or return to your hotel for a rest. In the afternoon, you will return for the gondola cruise. Your guide will inform you of the scheduled time for the ride.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a 30-minute relaxing gondola ride on the Grand Canal (S. Maria della Salute area) and minor canals (Fenice area). As the city passes around you, your authentic gondola slices the canal water in a quiet rush. Glide along the Grand Canal and venture into small, peaceful waterways.
