Canc̼n, city and adjacent island resort area, Quintana Roo estado (state), southeastern Mexico. Ciudad Canc̼n (Canc̼n city) is located on the northeastern coast of the Yucatn Peninsula, facing the Caribbean Sea. It is essentially a service town for the L-shaped resort area of Isla Canc̼n (Canc̼n Island), which is 13 miles (21 km) long by 0.25 mile (400 metres) wide. The Canc̼n Island resort area (also called the Zona Hotelera [Hotel Zone]) is linked by a causeway to Canc̼n city. The island, with its skyscraper hotels and sprawling resorts, and the coastal area occupied by Canc̼n city have abundant white sand beaches, palm groves, and coral reefs. The warm, tropical climate has a short rainy season.

However, like everywhere in the world the weather is subject to change. If you are visiting during the rainy season which starts from June till October its possible that you may experience some rain.
Thats why it is always good to come with a plan B. Keeping kids entertained in the rain is no easy feat, believe me.

I eat raw fruits and vegetables everytime I travel to Mexico and have never had a problem the water is purified so you should be fine. Make sure you drink plenty of bottled water, wash hands frequently, don't over do it on anytype of food, and watch alchol intake and you should be fine. Enjoy!
